Tomorrows Distillation Today with ORBIS BV

ORBIS BV represented by Wirsam Scientific in South Africa specializes in production, development of analytical instruments for the chemical, petrochemical and petroleum industry. The managing director, Paul Bruggeman has more than 30 years of experiences in development and production of innovative laboratory instruments for the petroleum industry. Due to this background and the combination of long experience in the industry in developing and listening to the ideas of the end-user he came to the conclusion: that it wasn’t enough to improve the precision of the results by upgrading the existing instruments with more software, only an improvement of the hardware of the basic instrument could lead to better results. Out of this "go back to basic" philosophy Orbis BV developed their product line, the "ORBIS Basic Line".

During the month September Wirsam Scientific hosted a Product Launch in Durban and Johannesburg of the Orbis Distillation System.

Wirsam hosts Automotive Seminars

During the month of October 2007 Wirsam Scientific hosted an Automotive Seminar representing their broad range of products specifically used in the automotive industry.

The Seminars were held in Johannesburg on Monday, 01 October 2007 and in Port Elizabeth on Thursday, 04 October 2007.
A number of leading industry experts presented a talk including, John Piller from Zwick-Indentec, Yogi Chauhan from BMW, Riaan Bergh from Investmech, Selwyn Petersen and Cyril Manyoni from Wirsam Scientific.

Various topics including Hardness Testing, Micro Vickers, Non-Destructive Testing, Thin Metals and Sample Preparation were discussed.
Instruments on demonstration included the Zwick Impact Pendulum Tester, Indentec Hardness Tester, Zwick Mobile/Portable Hardness Tester, Presi Mecapol Polishing Machine and Zwicki Tensile Tester and related software.

Wirsam & Thermo host launch of Facility @ UJ

Wirsam Scientific, together with Thermo Fisher hosted the launch of their new instrumentation at the Central Analytical Facility of the Faculty of Sciences (Spectrau)- University of Johannesburg Kingsway Campus on Thursday 11 October 2007 .

Against all odds; stormy weather, power-failures and the university student demonstrations, the day was very well attended by scientists, researchers and selected industry.

Wirsam Scientific recently installed the Cameca SX100 universal EPMA and Thermo Fisher their ICP-MS with laser ablation.
